Introduction to sketching outdoors along Richland Creek.
Enrollment deadline is October 9th.
$120 for 4 Saturday sessions, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Class schedule – October 14, 21, 28 & November 4, 2017.
Instructor – Alexander Brindley
In this 4 week class, with sketchbook in hand we will explore the methods and techniques of plein air sketching along Richland Creek. Artist and instructor Alexander Brindley will lead participants through the process of accurately drawing nature through observation. The skill of sketching through on-site observation was fundamental to the old Masters and was a crucial element in the artistic process of developing larger works such as paintings. During each session we will thus explore the challenges and joy of sketching in nature and learn to develop the techniques required to accurately render a variety of subjects. This class is open to all levels of artistic development, including those without any prior art experience. Participants will be encouraged to explore their own particular interests as the instructor will work with everyone individually. Richland Creek will serve as an ideal classroom as students will develop their skills of observation and sketch a variety of subject matter along the creek environment.
Class size is limited, and the minimum age to participate in Artshop is 16 years old.
