Sketching in Nature at Richland Creek
In this 3 session class, with sketchbook in hand we will explore the methods and techniques of plein air sketching along Richland Creek. Artist and instructor Alexander Brindley will lead participants through the process and challenges of accurately drawing nature through observation. All levels of artistic development are welcome, including those without any prior art experience. Participants will be encouraged to explore their own particular interests, as the instructor will work with everyone individually. The Richland Creek area will serve as an ideal classroom for students to develop their skills of observation and sketching in nature along the beautiful creek environment. Join us for a unique class where we will explore the possibilities and enjoyment of sketching outdoors.
The skill of sketching through on-site observation was fundamental to the Old Masters and is a crucial element in the artistic process of developing larger works such as paintings. During each session participants will explore the challenges and joy of sketching in nature and learn to develop the techniques required to accurately render a variety of subjects.
